Tenth Intervention: Anxiety. Ecstasy. Fear. Chaos. Sensuality.

Tenth Intervention presents a concert that creates fear, anxiety, ecstasy, chaos, and sensuality with works by innovative composers Kate Soper, Tonia Ko, Dorian Wallace, David Bird and Daniel Felsenfeld. Using the wearable technology headband made by Muse along with EEG sensors, the physical response (breathing, blinking, jaw clenching, etc.) of an audience member will be recorded and projected with data mapping designed by Jascha Narveson.

One Night of Excess: Undoing the Exquisite Corpse

Doors at 9 PM
Advance $29 | At the Door $34

Music and concept by: Whitney George and Daniel Felsenfeld

Based loosely on the short story Gamiani, attributed to Alfred de Musset

Featuring:
Whitney George (Narrator/Conductor)
Joy Jones (The Baron)
Heather Michele Meyer (Countess Gamiani)
Sara Noble (The Maid)
And members of The Curiosity Cabinet

Opera on Tap and The Curiosity Cabinet present an evening of tantalizing voyeurism in a surrealist retelling of the shockingly erotic and blisteringly sacrilegious 1833 short story Gamiani, with original music and concept design by Daniel Felsenfeld and Whitney George. The Baron secretly watches the stunning Italian countess Gamiani as she seduces and bewitches another woman. When his voyeurism is revealed, the steamy duo becomes a trio of imaginative erotic storytelling, in three vignettes which appeal to the senses. Prepare to be lured into a world of pleasure…

Longy School of Music - Edward M. Pickman Concert Hall, 8:00 pm

Longy faculty and guests present the music of award-winning composer Aaron Helgeson, whose work combines the sparseness of minimalism, Baroque-like ornamentation, and the sound palette of free improvisation to produce surreal aural deceptions on acoustic instruments. Helgeson holds master’s and doctoral degrees in composition from UC San Diego, and bachelor’s degrees in composition and theater from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio.

Eric Umble will be performing Aaron Helgeson's "A place toward other places" for solo clarinet.
